Hello! My name is Caroline Colvin and I am a journalist based out of Washington, D.C.
When I’m not jetting around our nation’s capital on the Metro, I am a magazine journalism student at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. As a junior mag major, I am developing my skills as a reporter, a writer, an editor and a graphic designer.
I have worked at a number of publications in my time at SU, but I have thrived the most at The Daily Orange, an independent student-run newspaper in Syracuse, New York. In Fall 2015, I wrote about feminism and LGBT+ issues each week as Gender + Sexuality columnist under The Daily Orange’s Opinion section. In Spring 2016, I worked as Assistant Editorial Editor. In Fall 2016, I served as Editorial Editor. I worked with columnists from pitch to print, conducted and wrote Editorial Boards, and managed the web aspect (posts and tweets) of the Opinion section.
I also interned at Talk Media News and participated in The Fund for American Studies’ Institute on Political Journalism.
And finally, I run a blog called Brown Girls Only, which is all about applying a critical, intersectional lens to current events affecting women of color. If you’d like to get in touch, email BGO at firstname.lastname@example.org.
